Goodbye, Steel Pier...
This will be the last summer for the rides and carnival games of the Steel Pier. Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., which owns the Taj Mahal and the Steel Pier, is closing the Atlantic City landmark to make way for a new entertainment complex that will include stores, restaurants and hotel rooms.
Opened in 1898, the Steel Pier was the site for the famed diving horse show and numerous other acts. It will close in mid October with no specific dates for its re-opening. It is yet another sign that Atlantic City is evolving from a family resort into an East Coast Vegas... except better.
