EDITORIAL REVIEW

Mr. CityAtlantic is here to answer all your questions about Atlantic City. Don't know where to go, what to do or how to get it done? Mr. CityAtlantic knows and he wants to help.

Q: I'd like to stay in one of the hotels or casinos in Atlantic City, but I'm coming with my dog "Chompers", a Chinese pug. Which hotels in the area are pet-friendly?

A: It's a good thing you said "hotels or casinos". Unfortunately, none of the casinos are pet-friendly beyond the minimum of having to cater to service animals and seeing-eye dogs. The only hotel property in Atlantic City itself that is in any way pet-friendly is the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center. Their pet policy simply says that one dog, no more than 80 pounds, can be permitted per room. Also, said dog must be accompanied at all times. There are three other properties in the area that are pet-friendly, but as said, they are not within the city limits. Those three properties are the Knights Inn in Absecon, the Best Value Inn in Galloway Township, and the Residence Inn by Marriott in Somers Point. You're looking at anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes of driving to get to your favorite casino should you want to bring your pet, since these are the area's only properties that you and Chompers can pick from. Also please note: no pets on the casino floors, not even Paris Hilton handbag-style.

Q: I'm confused. The valet parking cashier told me that my transfer receipt from last night doesn't get me free parking, and I thought that was the point of the entire remember-the-receipt thing. My girlfriend has yelled at me over this. What gives?

A: You leave Hilton at 11PM, receipt in hand. After a night of bars and clubs, you have held on to the receipt to score some free parking so you can crash in your buddy's room at Showboat. You try to leave at noon, only to be told that you have to pay to get your car. For the public, the new day ends and begins at midnight. For the casino and hotel accountants that run the numbers and calculate the tax revenue New Jersey makes from casino parking (didn't know that, did you?) the day ends and begins at 6AM, this being known as the "gaming day", in which the normal midnight is replaced by 6AM as the mark of a 24 hour period having passed.

Adventure. Excitement. Mr. CityAtlantic craves not these things. He does have regular cravings for Palm strip steak and is still in pursuit of the perfect turkey club sandwich. He can be reached at mr@cityatlantic.com.
