Building on the success of the 2005 Borgata Poker Open - the largest tournament in Atlantic City history - and on the heels of the debut of its new, 85-table room - the largest poker room in Atlantic City - Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa today announced details of the 2006 Borgata Poker Open and World Poker Tour (WPT) events, marking the Tour's fourth annual visit to Atlantic City. This sixteenday tournament will begin September 5 and will conclude with the five-day World Poker Tour Finals, September 15-19. The Borgata Poker Open will offer players a chance to participate in thirteen main events including Texas Hold'Em No Limit, Texas Hold'Em Limit, and 7-Card Stud tournaments, as well as a Ladies-only tournament. Additionally, the Open will include super satellites, second chance cash, and sit-and-gotournaments.
New this year, Borgata will host the Professional Poker Tour (PPT) event during the tournament. Poker's professional elite must qualify to compete in the PPT, which includes poker's all-stars: champions from WPT, World Series of Poker (WSOP), and European Poker competitions. The PPT will take place on Monday, September 11 and Tuesday, September 12. Taping of the televised PPT Final Table will occur on Wednesday, September 20. "The World Poker Tour provides our guests the opportunity to play in exciting, high-stakes events and win big. The PPT is an added feature this year, bringing poker professionals to the premier poker destination in Atlantic City."
