Communist Block
EDITORIAL REVIEW
Return of the Red Menace
Have you ever noticed that a small communist block comprised of Cuba Libre, PF Chang's and Red Square has developed within the Quarter? Is this coincidence or the return of the Red Menace? CityAtlantic is no Joe McCarthy, but we've decided to take a closer look at what's going on in the Quarter.
PF CHANGS
China
Straight from the little red cookbook of Mao, PF Chang's China Bistro makes the finest Chinese cuisine available outside of the PRC. From the handmade spring rolls to the beautiful decor,
PF Chang's is as impressive as the behemoth stone horses that guard its entrance. The restaurant provides a relaxed, chic atmosphere-a refreshing variation from typical Chinese restaurants.
PF Chang's is open from 11:30 am-midnight Sunday-Thursday and 11:30- 1:00am on Friday and Saturday.
MARCHING ON RED SQUARE
Vodka For The People
A titanic monument of V.I. Lenin greets diners as they enter Red
Square, the trendiest stop at The Quarter. This is one of the many props used to recreate the best and worst of Russian history. Our favorite novelties are the war-torn walls that feature paintings of Russian workers and the tables decorated with the hammer and sickle icon.
So what do you get when you mix Stalin, Khrushchev, and Yeltsin? A lot of Vodka. A lot. Choose from over one hundred and thirty rare vodkas served at 30 degrees below zero. Nothing's cooler than renting a
glass-enclosed personalized locker. Members can drink in mink as the rental
includes the use of a fur coat while visiting the walk-in freezer.
Couples may request a truly unique dining experience by reserving
seats in a secluded area complete with a closable curtain for complete privacy. There's nothing square about this Russian hangout.
CUBA LIBRE
Cuba
Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar offers a taste of 1950s Havana to patrons looking for more than just good eats. This scenic restaurant features a large Cuban flag, beautiful stained glass windows, and forty - foot ceilings. There's plenty of room to rest a fresh mojito on the antique mahogany and oak bar located at the restaurant's entrance. The bar serves sixty varieties of rum and has an extensive coffee menu. It's a great place to get liquored-up enough to salsa or sober enough to discuss post-Lenin Marxism with the college girls at the other end of the bar.
