DJ Skribble is setting new standards on the dance floor, the recording studio, radio, television, and with his newest venture, Skribble's Auto Spa, even in the custom automobile industry. He is among dance-music's most respected and acclaimed DJs; a multi-media personality, visionary, actor, producer, and artist.
He frequently appears in Atlantic City at such clubs as Mixx at Borgata and The Casbah at the Trump Taj Mahal.
We sat down with the prolific DJ to discuss music, his new TV show, and living life in the fast lane.
Skribs! You've been a staple on MTV for over ten years. Is it true you're now jumping to the E! Channel? Not really, I'm just doing the Gastineau Girls show on E!
You're teaching Brittny Gastineau to be a DJ? I'm trying to teach her.
Has it been difficult? She gets distracted really easily and she's a little bit of a diva.
The girl is hot, but does she have a shot at becoming a DJ? Not unless she practices - which she never does.
What does it take to be a top international DJ? You have to stay up on what's new in music. You need to listen to other DJ s play, pay attention to the crowds...and most importantly, you have to keep loving what you do. This isn't a job where you can fake your passion.
This year, Paul Van Dyk took the top DJ spot from Tiesto (according to DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs). Whatdo you think of the rankings? It's always going to battle between those two guys - they're both amazing DJs - but I still prefer Tiesto.
Who's your favorite DJ and why? Ah man, I have so many. But if I had to pick two, I'd have to say Erick Morillo for house and DJ Riz for hip hop.
You got the life man. Music. Fame. And tell us about your new ride. It's a Hummer H2 with satellite TV, Playstation, music keg, and an on-board computer. It's pretty much an office space on wheels.
Who did the customization? Dave "Fishman" Rivera and Skribble's Auto Spa.
You have your own spa? Yeah, in Queens. We specialize in rims, tires and of course the full all-out pimp-your-ride type stuff.
And you're a daddy now? Yes. His name is Scott; he'll be a year old Dec 29th.
Would you want him to follow in your footsteps? Hell no. I want him to be a doctor.
