Hail To The Chief!

If ever a sandwich-maker could become the leader of the free world, he would most certainly be doing his thing from the White House. The White House Sub Shop, that is. A local historic landmark, this remarkable eatery claims to have originated the submarine sandwich back in 1946 to honor the submarines of World War II. Either way, this place is indeed the commander-in-chief of all sub shops, serving millions of people not just in Atlantic City, but all over the country as well (these sandwiches have been shipped out as far as Los Angeles).

Family owned and operated since its opening, the White House delivers a true local flavor like no other place in the city. While the decor may not be as ornate as the political home of America's leaders, it has a bit of tourism to it all its own. People come here not only to eat these delicious hoagies, but also to see who else has eaten them. Inside you'll see countless photos of the numerous celebrities that have eaten these famous sandwiches.

We're talking everyone from U.S. Presidents, to Frank Sinatra, to Mick Jaggar ... and the list goes on and on. Using only the freshest meats and cheeses, as well as their famous bread unique only to Atlantic City, perhaps here at the White House, our democracy IS at "steak."

The Very Best
The White House Sub Shop is absolutely outstanding! Oversized sandwiches, fresh meat and produce and the bread cannot be beat. The steak sandwiches and Italian subs are the legacy of this shop for the past 60 years. You may have to wait in line for a little while but I assure you, the wait is well worth it. Flavor Lasts for Decades
I've been dining at WH now for about 45 of my 50 years. I spent summers in AC until age 18 and go every time I'm in the area. I've taken WH Specials (wrapped to travel) on flights around the country for relatives that miss the taste. Great subs (no match anywhere) and still a great value.
