Atlantic City offers a variety of efficient and enjoyable ways to get around town. Most of the city's highlights are located on Pacific or Atlantic Avenues, save a few properties in the outskirts. Both thoroughfares run north-south, which is much more expansive than east-west Atlantic City.
TheJitney The most feasible way to travel the length of Atlantic City is via Jitney, a 13-passenger mini bus that travels along Pacific Avenue. Jitney's run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and cost just $1.50 (flat fee). You must wait at a designated Jitney stop along the street in order to board. Jitney's come about every two minutes, so the wait is extremely minimal. Jitney stops are marked by red, white and blue signs along the sidewalks.Jitneys travel the entire length of the city, from the inlet to Jackson Ave., from the Marina to the Casinos, servicing practically all major Atlantic City attractions. For your convenience, every sign located by each Casino Stop will have color-coded numbers. Decide your route, then just look for the corresponding color coded number on each Jitney. For more information call 609-344-8642. RollingChairs Another way to travel the length of the city is via a famous Rolling Chair, an Atlantic City treasure since the 1800s. The wicker rolling chairs are manually pushed the length of the Boardwalk by friendly attendants, much like a carriage ride. Visitors have used the rolling chair for a relaxing ride, a scenic tour, or on occasion, for special events. These chairs are built not for speed, but for relaxation and romance. Passengers can travel 24 hours a day through Atlantic City and all neighboring cities, from Somers Point and Ocean City, to the Marina District and Brigantine, to Hamilton and Mays Landing.
