Eric
Millstein, is the General Manager of MIXX at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
With over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Eirc has
brought continued success to the popular restaurant and nightclub. His
hospitality experience kicked off from becoming co-owner of The Backyard Bar
and later the Backyard Hotel and Suites on Playa Hermosa in Costa Rica.
Since then Eric has honed his skills at places like Club 609, The Spot (both
in Miami) and La Colonial in Philadelphia; to name a few. Millstein couldn’t
be more excited about his role at MIXX.
Do you live in Atlantic City?
I was born in Atlantic City Hospital. My four brothers and my mother all went
to Atlantic City High School.
Where do you like to surf in your time off?
When I was kid I'd hit up all the great local spots. State Avenue in Atlantic City and the Margate and Ventnor Piers. These days I stay close to home and surf on Rumson Ave in Margate.
Outside of the Borgata, what is your favorite casino in the world?
A few of the local casinos in Costa Rica. They only hold about 50 people so it is extremely intimate.
Mixx is one of the few locations in the area to switch from full service
restaurant to a full service nightclub. What is the trick?
Making a smooth transition is very important. We don’t want our diners to feel that we are taking something from them. We want to show them we are giving them something by adding live entertainment with dancers and percussion players.
What makes MIXX so successful?
The staff. No doubt this place is solid from top to bottom. Amanada Senoff, my beverage manager and Dan Lopes the restaurant manager have been here since we opened. You combine that with working with a guy like Victor Tiffany
- it’s great.
What are some things about MIXX that we might not know about?
People see us a mostly a nightclub, but we have a top-notch restaurant. Our executive chef is from Nobu in New York. I would put our food up against anyone’s.
- We also have secret ways of getting celebrities directly to their table or room without any hassle. We are in touch with security long before they step foot in the club.
What do you see in the future for AC?
I have a positive view of this town as it grows. The Borgata you see today is just the beginning of what we are to become. Mixx is the heart that makes the casino beat on a Saturday night at 2am. It’s great to feel like you’re at the epicenter of this wave of growth.
Do you play in the casinos?
I’m known to dabble in a little blackjack from time to time.
What three words describe Atlantic City best?
It is underestimated.
Dealer shows 17, you've got a pair of 8's- how do you play them?
Split them
