 Jim Haney, General Manager
Known as an innovator and trendsetter within the hospitality industry, Jim is a welcome addition as General Manager of the Atlantic City Palm. Jim was handpicked to join the Palm team for his expertise in opening new venues. He honed his hospitality skills as General Manager for both Dave and Buster’s Inc. in Dallas, Texas and the ESPN Zone in Baltimore, Maryland. His talent for providing superior guest experiences earned him a promotion to Director of East Coast Operations for Disney Regional Entertainment and the ESPN Zone in Glendale, California. In addition to handling numerous grand openings, his responsibilities with Disney included the management of finances with annual revenues in excess of 55 million dollars. In his early career, Jim held numerous hospitality positions in Pennsylvania. Today, he proudly makes his home in Marlton, New Jersey. Please join us in welcoming him to The Palm family.
Jim is an innovator and trendsetter within the hospitality industry. Jim lives locally in Marlton, New Jersey with his wife and children.
How long have you lived in Atlantic City?
I have lived in Ocean City for 4 years.
What do like most about Atlantic City?
The beaches and Ocean first and foremost. I really like all the excitement surrounding the growth of Atlantic City and all the new businesses coming to town. It is a very exciting time for the City.
Describe your perfect day in Atlantic City.
A round of golf at Atlantic City Country Club, Dinner at the Palm restaurant and late night drinks at one of the many great beach bars.
What originally brought you to AC?
I came down for the summer in 1989 to work at Trump Castle. I ended up getting hooked on all the excitement and stayed for three years.
Where do you see the city in 10 years?
I think it will look like an entirely different place. I think you will have dining and entertainment options available that will rival any place in the country.
What is your part in getting there?
My part is making sure that the City has the Best steak house in the country. We committed to providing visitors of Atlantic City the best food, drink and service anywhere.
Tell us about your favorite AC memory.
Going up on the Boardwalk with my parents and 5 brothers when I was little. I still have some great family photos that take me back there when I look at them.
You’ve got two hours to kill on the boardwalk, what do you do?
I would probable waist about $ 40.00 in an arcade. I always like the games.
What three words describe Atlantic City best?
Always getting better.
Dealer shows 17 you’ve got a pair of 8s - how do you play them?
Split them.
What would you most like to change about Atlantic City? I’d love to improve some of the neighborhoods that have been neglected over the years.
What separates The Palm from the other steakhouses in the city?
The staff! There is no doubt in my mind that we have the best trained, most professional and fun loving staff in Atlantic City. We are a year and a half into this restaurant and our entire service staff has been here since day one. We have not had to bring one additional server on since opening.
