When
people often ask what I do for a living, I often say "everything".
My official title is... Special events manager and marketing director for
the Attila Wings properties in the Atlantic City area. Which include Hooters
of Tropicana, Hooters of Trump Marina, Firewaters, A Dam Good Deli and A Dam
Good Crab Shack also located in the Tropicana. What that leaves out is I am
an assistant to Adam Goodman, the area Director of Operations, and I am
often in one of the restaurants running a manager shift. My unofficial title
is "Little Hooter Mama."
How’d you get the name "Little Hooter Mama"?
For a long time I
was the only female manager and the Hooters Girls would come to me for
advice or a shoulder to cry on or a number of other reasons I won't get into
- and I just do my best to help them, which is why I got the Little Hooters
Mama title.
How long have you lived in Atlantic City?
I've lived in the
Atlantic City area all my life, but my roots go deeper. Both my parents were
born in AC. They are both a product of the Atlantic City school system and
proud of it. They were both born in Atlantic City Medical and raised on the
Island, as well as the greater part of my extended family, much of whom sill
live there.
Are you married or single?
Engaged to a great guy.
What do you
think is the most under-appreciated part of Atlantic City?
The not so
obvious is the wildlife... crabbing fishing, clamming, birding,
dolphin-watching all from your beach chair. I cannot begin to tell people
how much they can see and do just sitting on a dock in one of AC marinas.
My fiancé has bait and tackle that sits in front of where he docks his
boat. It’s awesome to be sitting there and see a great big otter swim up
to steal food out of the bait nets in the water. The water is definitely
where it's at.
Anything else?
Atlantic City has a unique affect on people,
no matter how much you think you want to live somewhere else, the people who
leave always come back!
What is your part in building the “new” Atlantic
City?
For a long time the city was on a downward slide and people were
afraid to go anywhere except the casinos, but in the past few years it's
really cleaned up. The only thing any local individual can do is continue to
pass along information to tourists on where they can go and be safe and to
join in all the fun that’s going on. The more positive influences we have,
the less the negative influences will be able to ruin the fun.
Tell us about
your favorite AC memory.
I remember an extremely warm day in February when I
was very young, about 7 or 8, and my mom took us (my brothers and myself)
out of school to take us to the beach. It was a treat for two reasons,
one... we never missed school even if we were dying and two... How many
beach days do you get in February?!
You’ve got two hours to kill on the
boardwalk, what do you do?
If I had two hours to kill on the boardwalk I
would walk, people-watch, then grab some wings at the Tropicana Hooters,
which is right on the boardwalk. After all these years I still love those
wings.
Why should I go to Hooters?
Hooters is a terrific place to grab a
great bite to eat and not break the bank. It’s even a great place for
families- there are not a lot of kid-friendly places to eat in AC. The
Hooters girls are very laid-back and friendly, so you never feel rushed -
which makes it a great place to regroup and establish a game plan.
What’s
your favorite restaurant?
People ask the best place to go around here and I
always tell them "Hooters of Trump Marina". Of course because I
work there - but also because I have a passion for both Hooters and The
Trump Marina. With all the properties I am currently involved with, it's my
favorite.
So we guess your favorite casino is the Trump Marina?
The Trump
Marina is a great property. I’ve loved going there long before we ever
built our Hooters there. The Deck is my favorite but I love the Wave too.
It's like one stop shopping. Eat at Hooters, chill out at the Deck for a
while to listen to the band and watch the boats and the water for a while,
then "Rock on" at the Wave with live dance music.
Dealer shows 17
you’ve got a pair of 8’s – how do you play them?
Simple. Ask my
sponsor if he would like to split them because I almost never play with my
own money.
