Anchorage Tavern

"The Anc", as locals fondly know it, has set sail again after a September 2006 fire that gutted a section of this Somers Point nightspot. About a 20-minute drive from the casinos, Anchorage Tavern has quickly regained its reputation of being one of the best nightlife and food hotspots on the local mainland. Located right across the street from Somers Point Marina, the main barroom has a great nautical theme to go along with its jukebox, two pool tables, weekend DJ's, and good choice of TV's. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are jammed here. There is a separate dining room that offers a quieter, more restaurant-like experience, and it has a diverse menu. Offerings range from some of the mainland's best appetizers to huge burgers, sandwiches, and salads, with an entrée section heavy on local seafood, along with solid chicken and steak choices. Lunch is served daily from 11AM, and the restaurant stays open to late night. If you go to the Anchorage only one day a year, make it Bayfest- the last Saturday in April. The Anchorage is the epicenter of a beer-drinking, live-music, go crazy kind of day that consumes all of Bay Ave.
