EDITORIAL REVIEW
Smitty's Clam Bar is a Somers Point gem. Only open during summer, Smitty's has very fresh seafood at great prices. The clam chowder is mind-blowing, and so are the simple dishes such as fried shrimp. The bayside atmosphere is very casual, which makes Smitty's great for families. The restaurant is BYOB; bring a six-pack, eat some of the area's best bar-themed seafood and watch the sunset. Smitty's only real concern is the wait- the cat's out of the bag about how good it is, so a 30-40 minute wait for a table during the week is not unheard of. The wait, unfortunately, is unavoidable; they don't take reservations.

The clam bar has been a favorite since I was a kid. We make it a point to go there on opening day every year and make sure to preorder the soup before the end of their season. All the food is very tasty. The wait is dealt with a bottle of wine (which they will open for you) and conversation with other people waiting. The only downside is parking, the lot is small and you might have to walk a bit.

BEST SOUP IN THE UNIVERSE 10.0 Stars
I will never ever, ever be able to eat clam chowder (both New England & Manhatten) ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE!!! Always comparing to Smitty's. All food is delicious. Menu specials are great. It is a great local place that you'd be hard pressed to find in the best New England towns!
