Tomatoes

Tomatoe's is located at 9300 Amherst Ave. in Margate. That very fact caused concern several years ago when the ownership moved their restaurant from the midtown to the bay section of Margate, about 15 minutes from the casinos. What was years ago not a fashionable chunk of neighborhood has now blossomed into what some Philadelphia publications are calling a second incarnation of Restaurant Row. The neighborhood renaissance that followed was largely inspired by Tomatoe's, and its California/Mediterranean menu, combined with a sometimes loud but still sophisticated bar scene. Reservations are required, and the main dining room is open from 5-10pm Sunday through Thursday, and 5-11pm Friday and Saturday.
