Yama Japanese Restaurant

Yama is the only freestanding (read: not in a casino) purely Japanese restaurant that we know of in Atlantic City. Yama updates new specials from the kitchen and sushi bar every day, and the lemongrass hot and sour soup, along with the roasted duck, come very highly recommended. Yama is located on Atlantic Avenue in Ventnor, about 10 minutes from the casinos. Until something approaching Nobu comes to AC, Yama is likely the best option and therefore worth the drive.
