| The Sunset Inn on The Bay is a two-star property located about 1.5 miles from downtown Atlantic City. Conveniently located on route 40 (The Black Horse Pike), directly off Exit 2 of the Atlantic City Expressway, be sure not to confuse this hotel with its sister property, The Sunset Inn at the Marina, which is located across town on route 30 (The White Horse Pike).
The Sunset Inn on The Bay is more of a motel than a hotel, offering just 32 guestrooms at some of the cheapest rates in the area. This property is perfect for budget-conscious travelers who need only the basic necessities in a hotel, and who have access to a private vehicle to make the 5-minute drive into Atlantic City.
The Sunset Inn on the Bay offers a nice bayside setting along Lakes Bay, with many of its guestrooms overlooking the serene natural landscape as well as the AC skyline. Rooms come with either one Queen-sized or two Double-sized beds and a small seating area with table. In-room amenities range from free cable and HBO, to hairdryers, ironing equipment and coffeemakers. Maid service is also provided. Complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in the lobby. Guests are afforded free parking right in front of their room door. The parking lot is centered by a large outdoor pool and sundeck (seasonal), with plenty of lounge chairs and table seating available.
In addition to the excitement of downtown Atlantic City, The Sunset Inn on the Bay is surrounded by a number of attractions outside the downtown area, many of which appeal to all ages. For instance, families with children can visit the Flyers Skate Zone, located less than a mile from the hotel on route 40. Here hockey fans young and old can participate in ice-hockey as well as roller-hockey activities. Plenty of Flyers memorabilia is on hand, along with skating lessons, games, unique programs and more.
If your stay happens be during baseball season, next door from the Flyers Skate Zone is the Sand Castle Stadium, home to Atlantic City’s minor league baseball team, The Surf. Atlantic City Surf games are reasonably priced and include all the stadium fare, amusements and prizes of a major league event.
For travelers who wish to add a more poignant local flavor to their trip, there’s a number of dining and nighttime establishments located in the vicinity that offer a taste of true Atlantic City culture---one that seeks refuge outside the casino industry. For example, heading east (route 40) into Atlantic City, stop off at the Wonder Bar, situated at the bottom of the Albany Avenue Bridge. With its on-the-bay location, the Wonder Bar is a local favorite, serving cheap drinks and hearty pub fare 24 hours a day. During summer the Wonder Bar’s outdoor Tiki Bar is one of the most happening spots in the city, with patrons even pulling up in their boats to have a drink or two. Also nearby is the 24-hour Homerun Tavern, a great local hangout where you can eat and drink cheap and catch the game on any one of their big-screen TVs. 1094672220
