The Boardwalk Bullies are the pride and joy of Atlantic City, adding a new kind of excitement to America's Favorite Playground. A major contender in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), the Bullies began their season in AC in 2001, after relocating from Birmingham earlier that year. The Bullies play thirty-six home games each season, from October through March. Home games are played in Boardwalk Hall, one of the most historic structures in the area. Originally built in 1929 as the Atlantic City Convention Hall, the building was once the largest auditorium in the world. Located directly on the Boardwalk in the heart of Atlantic City, the historic Boardwalk Hall plays host not only to Bullies games, but to headline concerts, the annual Miss America Pageant, world-class boxing, and many other major events. A new seating bowl in the arena was installed below the historic arcade level to accommodate flexible modern seating which can be set in a variety of configurations. Seating capacity is for Bullies games is 10,500. The new floor area is approximately 119,500 square feet. The new ice rink measures 200 feet by 85 feet. Game tickets are available by calling (609) 449-2064, or by visiting Ticketmaster.com. Individual ticket prices range from $9-$20.
With the addition of the Bullies and other sports clubs such as the AC Surf Baseball team, Atlantic City has become much more than a gaming resort. This town is nothing short of a prominent, well-rounded tourist destination, offering spectator sports excitement, the famous Boardwalk, white-sand beaches, the best in gaming, world-class entertainment, renowned restaurants and sizzling nightlife.
