| Editorial Review |
A wonderful addition to Atlantic City's landscape is the Quarter, the exciting new entertainment area at the Tropicana. The three-tiered complex resembles the streets of Old Havana -complete with lampposts, fountains and faux sky- and offers visitors a place to stroll, shop and dine without ever having to leave the casino. An absolute smash-hit, the Quarter is packed with visitors every weekend.
Restaurants
The Trop involved some of the biggest names in dining when developing the Quarter. Nationally recognized names such as The Palm and P.F. Chang's opened branches in the Quarter as well as regional eateries such as New York City's famous Italian restaurant, Carmine's. A perfectly-suited match for the Quarter is Cuba Libre, a Philly favorite that has terrific food and great-looking interior - check out the bar with the mock Soviet ICBM!
Nightlife
The Quarter is expected to become a prominent nightspot with several upscale bars and lounges. One of the hottest bars in New York City & Miami, Jeffery Chodorow will open another branch of Red Square, a hip, Soviet-inspired vodka bar that serves drinks at 30 degrees below zero and has a 60-foot bar made of real ice. An authentic Irish Pub named Ri-Ra has been one of the more surprising successes of the Quarter where lines out the door on Friday and Saturday nights have become the norm. another great venues at the Quarter is TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia), probably the city's best live music venue. If you'd rather be on the stage, go to Planet Rose, Atlantic City's only karaoke bar. You can also stop in for a couple of chuckles at the Comedy Stop, located on the second floor of the Quarter. With two bars and deluxe booth seating, 32 Degrees LUXE Lounge offers european bottle service and an atmosphere of hip, fashonable people.
Shopping Retail stores for clothes-hounds include Brooks Brothers, Cache, Chico's, Barron's, Mondi and Zinman furriers. Other stores include Brandeis Jewlers, Swarovski crystal, Salsa Shoes, Houdini's Magic Shop and The Spy Store.
Relaxation
The Quarter also houses one of the largest spas in New Jersey, the Bluemercury Spa whose client list includes celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey.
Dressing For the Quarter The Tropicana recently announced the implementation of a dress code for guests visiting The Quarter. On weekends and holidays after 11:00 pm, Their policy states; "men and women wearing these items of clothing are not allowed to enter without management approval: baggy jeans, work-style boots or shoes; tee shirts; inappropriate athletic gear and other clothing deemed inappropriate by Tropicana Management."
"The Quarter is fast-becoming the hippest place to hang out in Atlantic City," said Dennis C. Gomes, President, Resort Operations, Aztar Corporation, Tropicana's parent company. "Our guests arrive fashionably dressed and we want to maintain that level of sophistication."
